Diana Araújo has graduated in Political Science and International Relations from Nova University in Lisbon, Faculty of Social and Human Sciences.
She has started her professional career in 2000 in the International Department of the Portuguese Red Cross at the headquarters and she is currently the Head of the this Department.
Her main responsibilities are the international and institutional relations with the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement and Cooperation. She is the focal point at the Portuguese Red Cross for International Humanitarian Law (IHL) dissemination and she is responsible for the articulation with the Portuguese authorities, namely in the Permanent Consultation Mechanism on IHL.
She is the National Coordinator of the Restoring Family Links (RFL) Service of the Portuguese Red Cross and in this capacity is a member of the RFL Pool of Specialist of the emergency deployment mechanism of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Diana has done several international missions with the Red Cross (Mozambique, Brazil, Belgium, Ecuador, Djibouti and Indonesia) with both the International Committee of the Red Cross and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
Diana Araújo represents the Portuguese Red Cross in several international meetings, including the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Conference which includes States Party to the Geneva Conventions.
